Randolph-Macon College invites you to attend a conference of the International Studies Association/South. The Conference is open to all academic disciplines. We encourage both disciplinary and interdisciplinary papers and panels, which focus on international themes. In addition to the regular panels the conference will feature a series of panels that explore the link between International Studies and International Education/Study Abroad. This will include a panel of International Education program directors to talk about problems and issues related to such programs, a panel of professors who teach travel or study abroad courses, a panel on research opportunities abroad and student photo/poster exhibit on their overseas study experiences.

The conference will take place on the campus of Randolph-Macon College located in Ashland, Virginia. Founded in 1830 and located in historic Ashland, Va., Randolph-Macon College is a selective, co-educational, national liberal arts and sciences college with a mission of “developing the minds and character of its students.” Located just 15 miles north of Richmond and 90 miles south of Washington, D.C., Randolph-Macon offers students a broad academic foundation and provides them numerous opportunities for individualizing their education.
The College will provide a free hourly Airport shuttle on Friday the 17th from 8:00 till 4:00 PM. There will be a sign-up sheet at the hotel for the return trip on Sunday the 19th. Transportation to and from the Airport to the hotel is also available through commercial carriers. Cost for the commercial carriers for one person one way is about $40. The Hampton Inn is located is located approximately 400 yards from the campus. A shuttle bus will be available to transport attendees between the hotel and the campus.
Getting to the ISA/South 2008 Conference
By Automobile
1. Take Interstate 95 to Central Virginia, 90 miles South of Washington, DC.; 100 miles north of the North Carolina border; 12 miles north of the intersection of Interstates 64 and 95.
2. From the South take Exit 92B - Route 54 West (Ashland).
From the North take exit 92. – Route 54 West (Ashland).
3. The Hampton Inn is located approximately ¼ mile from the Exit on your left. A shuttle service is available between the Hotel and the RM-C campus.
4. To get to the R-MC Campus by car continue on Route 54 West across Route 1 (your third light). About 1/2 mile after Route 1, turn right onto Henry Street (across from the Post Office). Take the next left onto College Avenue.
5. Parking for the ISA/South conference is available on your right between Thomas Branch Hall and Washington/Franklin Hall and to your left in the Physical plant parking lot.
6. The conference registration desk is located in the Atrium of Thomas Branch Hall.

It couldn't be easier! There is an Amtrak station in Ashland, immediately adjacent to the campus. Just give Amtrak a call for schedule information.
By Airplane
The closest major airport to R-MC is Richmond International Airport, which is served by most major airlines. It is located thirty minutes from campus. Randolph-Macon College will provide a free shuttle service from the Richmond Airport (RIC) to the Hampton Inn in Ashland on Friday the 17th from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 PM. There will be an R-MC representative in a bright yellow shirt at the bottom of the escalator at the entrance to the baggage claim area at RIC to provide information and help coordinate shuttles. If you are arriving by plane on the 17th, to insure expeditious service, it would be helpful if you could e-mail us with your approximate arrival time.
